Main Attrakionz - 'cLOUDLIFE' EP

I’m actually somewhat surprised that the collaboration at hand, between “cloud rap” forerunners Main Attrakionz and Anticon visionary Jel and associate Zachg hasn’t happened earlier. There’s an undeniable link between MA duo Squadda Bambino and Mondre M.A.N.’s hazy, ambient rap tracks and the strong experimental streak distinctive of so much of the Anticon label’s output, so it’s about time something like this, the cLOUDLIFE EP, came into place. The four song release features Squadda and Mondre going in over two characteristically off-kilter Jel beats, on ‘Chap 3′ and ‘So Whut’, and likewise for Zachg’s contributions, ‘J Bar’ and the significantly less impressive ‘Take Her Shoppin’. The results make for an intriguing listening experience, highly recommended regardless of how “abstract” you like your hip-hop.
