Enigmatic Mancunian weirdos WU LYF have put out one of my favourite albums of the year thus far in the form of Go Tell Fire to the Mountain, so, obviously, I’ve been on the lookout for any and all new material. The closest we’ve gotten to hearing what any subsequent releases will sound like is this, a live version of a new song entitled ‘Brooklyn Girls’, which they played in New York back in July. The recording quality is more than passable, but a lot of this version’s charm lies in its inherent rawness; every minute fret buzz and voice break is captured, and the song sounds real pretty regardless, more delicate and less intense than most of the tracks on the full-length. It ain’t much, but five minutes of new WU LYF is time well spent.
