Way too many of my friends seem to be super excited about 4/20, a fact which I find both pointless and kind of irritating, since it’s not like I can’t smoke weed on any other day of the year; but regardless, because I’m a pretty rad bro, I’ve put together a twenty song mix guaranteed… [Read more…]

It’s hard to believe it’s been four years since Torche put out their last full-length, 2008′s Meanderthal, an album I now consider one of my all time favourites. You can imagine my excitement, then, when I got my grubby little hands all over the band’s new record, their third: Harmonicraft. I’m listening to it for the first time right… [Read more…]

One of my main beefs with so-called “extreme” metal is the fact that so many of such bands seem to lack anything resembling even a minute sense of humour, a fact which I think has contributed to a significant change in my listening habits. It’s not that I insist on listening to strictly “positive” music… [Read more…]

Contrary to what most people would think, Nujabes is not the only Jazz-Hop producer in existence. Thomas prime is a producer out of the UK, who actually hasn’t been producing all that long (emerging mid 2011) but this shit is dope. This particular album is his newest LP, and for Jazz-Hop fans it is imperative… [Read more…]

The idea for this mixtape came after SC reader Houghty commented on our post on youthful bedroom producer Japanese Wallpaper, asking for similar tunes he could play while studying, and I just finished another round of the seemingly unending onslaught of exams that defines my existence, so I’d say now is as good a time as any… [Read more…]

Awww yeaaaah… that crusty death metal bruisers Black Breath were putting out a new full-length this year was something that’d completely passed me by, a fact I’ll never be able to forgive myself for considering how crushingly rad 2010′s Heavy Breathing was and continues to be. The album ranked in my top 5 for that year,… [Read more…]

‘Easy’ is one of the highlights off of Days, Real Estate‘s totally rad 2011 album, which, in case I haven’t mentioned it, took the top spot on my best of the year list. Good news for me then, because the band just put the song out as a single, backed by ‘Exactly Nothing’, a lovely track that… [Read more…]

Yeah, Tyler, The Creator and the majority of his fanbase are beyond irritating and much of what initially seemed so fresh and interesting about OFWGKTA has basically devolved into little more than an entertaining gimmick, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious as to what this, the second OF tape, would sound like.… [Read more…]

Japanese Wallpaper‘s War Peace Rocket Ships is definitely one of the more intriguing submissions we’ve gotten here at Sunny Cellars, produced by a 14-year old Australian kid “in various beds across three continents in the first half of 2011″. The results, in the form of three odd ambient pieces, are surprisingly enjoyable, particularly ‘War’, a sparse,… [Read more…]
